This product is a special, dried, and graded sand used in swimming pool filtration systems to trap dirt and debris from water. It is typically made of silica, which has small, hard, angular granules that can filter particles as small as 20 microns. As water passes through it in the filter tank, the product catches the particles and prevents them from returning to the pool. The more tightly packed it is, the more efficient the filter will be.
